A Little Bit Of Everything

Got a little mix of doodles that the guys here at the Bunker made over the last couple of weeks.

Yet another owl by Willem.
Looks like owls are going to be the new thing in 2012. Wolves and koi fish are sooo 2011.

Mehdi finally got to finishing the feng huang sleeve, a lot of color and detail went into this one.

Kraken lady with skull and roses on the lower leg by Roger.

Florencio finished up this Mary and angel sleeve a couple of days ago.

Last but not least, I got two little script pieces by Willem.
Got to love what the later one says.

Clever Aint Wise

Owls are a group of birds that belong to the order Strigiformes. Most are solitary and nocturnal. Owls hunt mostly small mammals, insects, and other birds, although a few species specialize in hunting fish.

Unlike folklore has it, owls aren't very smart. There are no known records of any owls having college degrees. Let alone attending college in the first place.

Other interesting facts about owls:

- Unlike their color would suggest, owls do not taste like chocolate.
- It’s a well-known fact that owls do not pay taxes.
- In ancient folklore owls are viewed as harbingers of bad luck, ill-health, or death. The biggest thing I´ve seen an owl bring is a large-sized rat.

The Wolf is Loose

The hero of the gods
The crossing of the threshold
The belly of the whale
Refusal of return
Hollow eyes
Dry pale legs
Howling on
Through fields and graves
Language of the signs
Symbols to our sight
Guardian to thy throne
Take on form
Daylight
Hide the skin
Cut it off
Scatter ash in the wind
Shapeshifter rolling on winds of tyrants make
Fierce lore of fanged horn
Danger all the way
Night's sea reflection
The faces of bodies slain
Returning to the form of natural human's fate
Grown from the cold
Spirits unclean
Dealer of the days
The ice will thaw
As the soldier walks thru the crimson side
Researchers of aftermath
Dispelling disarming man
One-toed horses subject of Genesis
And the immigrants
Fundamental side of a human mind
Hulder folk and fairies
So believe
The hero of the gods
The crossing of the threshold
The belly of the whale
Refusal of return

Gargantuan Power Update!

Wrrrrrrrooooooaaaaaaaaarrrrr!!!

I am back, and I bring with me many a present! I was out on a little mental-vacation there, sorry for the inconvenience, I know how all of you have nothing better to do with your time than read my blog.

So today is a day worth remembering, as international 'I got my life back' day.

The time has come for me to please the gods of blog once again, by having my say here and showing you some naked pictures. Errrmmm... Did I just say 'naked' pictures? I meant tattoo pictures of course.

So how about kicking it off with a pretty picture of an aeronautical heart and a dead king?

Here are two pieces Mehdi has been working on.
Mehdi only did the upper arm, the lower arm was done by someone else.
Lucy our cupcake baking super-dooper-trooper came to get her chest done with an oriental take on the classic smile now, cry later theatre masks.

While waiting for Mehdi to finish her drawing she baked some cupcakes for us in our new kitchen.

Love Hate Deaf

So, this red guy, well boy, actually, was summoned by nazi's to literally raise hell on earth so the nazi's would win WWII. Unfortunately for them, Rasputin was sucked into another dimension and the boy was raised by defenders and researchers of a paranormal bureau.

The demons in hell wished hard for him to return to their side. But lucky for us, he tasted pancakes. Now he would never, ever return to hell's side. He grew up as a good guy, kicking asses of witches, demons and other scumbags. He also hit a goon and killed a flying octopus before the goon hit him with a wrench. A fish is his bestestestest friend.

This was all about a red guy, and this is a picture of a green skull.

Now, praise the wizard who grants your wish to ride the thunder through nightly skies. Beards in the wind. Unicorns singing philosophical songs below, searching for reasons and questions. May they never find their answers, asshole unicorns.

Mummified

Willem made a little all-seeing scarab.

The scarab beetle is a dung beetle, it lays its egg in a ball of dung that it buries in the ground. The egg hatches and the grub eats the dung and then pupates to emerge from the ground as a new adult beetle.

The ancient Egyptians saw how these beetles lived and emerged from dry ground and used this as a metaphor for the entombing and resurrection of their mummies. In this way the beetle became the Egyptian symbol for rebirth, the ability to be reborn.

The Egyptians also observed the beetle rolling its egg ball of along the ground, and the ball was identified with the sun and the beetle with the god Khepri who pushed the ball of the sun across the sky.

It Starts With An An

Some of you might remember this anchor, I posted the lines a while back.

Roger finished it today.
It half fresh half healed, so the contrast is kind of messed up.

Spring Is Coming

Willem did this here swallow a couple of weeks ago.

Swallows were often the first to land on a ship that had been out to sea for long periods of time. So the bird came to symbolize being close to or finding your way home. That's why the tattoo of the swallow became popular for its symbolism of home.

The swallow is also the harbinger of the spring season.

Life And Death

Willempies younger brother came by today to get his leg photographed.
Sorry for not shaving his legs, but I'm not so into the whole man-shaving-man thing.

Part One Of The Duology

Willem finished up the hate wolf foot, a couple of days ago and I thought it might be time to put it up here.

As you might already know, this is one half of the Love-Hate feet Willem is doing. One down, one to go. Willem went home early today so I took it on myself to steal a sneak peek of the heart for you guys.

I'll keep you updated as it progresses.
