Brussels And More And Less Or More Or Less

Good news! And more good news! And better news! With some best news!

We'll be attending this years Brussels Tattoo Convention.  Sorry for the short-term notice, but it's this weekend already! So change all your plans, cancel all the appointments you had, and come by to say hi and hang out and get tattooed and have fun and laugh at Belgians and get us a beer while you're at it!

In further news, some of you might have noticed the blog layout change multiple times this afternoon. That in fact my friends, did really happen, you are not suffering a neglected-blog-delirium. I'm looking to change the whole set up and look, to make the whole thing a little bit more user-friendly, clear and fit the new Bunker style.
Since we moved a couple of months ago, we decided to go for the whole make-over and get a new logo and what not goes with all that.
The blog is still not the way I want it, so expect that t change some more the next couple of days.

Last week we finally got our new sign, so people can now actually find us.

Further further more, we got new stickers!
That is all for today.
See you in Brussels!

B.E.A.R.D.

Today is a huge day for awesome radical mankind. As for this day marks the official date that B.E.A.R.D. was founded.

The Bureau for Extremely Awesome Radical Dudes is an organization founded by Willem Jansen and Rudolf Maartens, charged with protecting the world from stuff.

It maintains the services of several supernatural persons, including Willem and myself. The B.E.A.R.D. originally appeared in Willem's head this morning, but has also been featured never before.

B.E.A.R.D. intends on recruiting all of the worlds most extremely awesome radical dudes into the hugest awesomestest radical dudes organisation on the planet earth world.

If you think you have what it takes, go and add yourself to our organisation at B.E.A.R.D.
Do note! there are some strict admission requirements that you will have to meet, before we will fully accept you as a B.E.A.R.D. agent.

For once, you actually have be able to grow beard on your own without the help of any known artificial hair growing substances (sorry Roger, nothing personal).
Also, you will have to be extremely awesome and radical. (Note the name of the actual organisation.) And you will have to be a dude, so no women or animals allowed!
However we would consider extending memberships to dogs and really smart monkeys aswell.

Gargantuan Power Update!

Wrrrrrrrooooooaaaaaaaaarrrrr!!!

I am back, and I bring with me many a present! I was out on a little mental-vacation there, sorry for the inconvenience, I know how all of you have nothing better to do with your time than read my blog.

So today is a day worth remembering, as international 'I got my life back' day.

The time has come for me to please the gods of blog once again, by having my say here and showing you some naked pictures. Errrmmm... Did I just say 'naked' pictures? I meant tattoo pictures of course.

So how about kicking it off with a pretty picture of an aeronautical heart and a dead king?

Here are two pieces Mehdi has been working on.
Mehdi only did the upper arm, the lower arm was done by someone else.
Lucy our cupcake baking super-dooper-trooper came to get her chest done with an oriental take on the classic smile now, cry later theatre masks.

While waiting for Mehdi to finish her drawing she baked some cupcakes for us in our new kitchen.

Good Food N Fun

Mehdi came back from his month-long sabbatical and decided to throw a little private party with a couple of his closest friends.
He also invited his friend Francois Geurds, who owns and runs a restaurant in Rotterdam, called Ivy, wich is a hi-end culinary restaurant with a Michelin star.

Mehdi got him to inaugurate our new kitchen, by cooking up some great tasting delicacies.

Here you see the master at work.

In exchange for the food Mehdi gave Francois his first tattoo.

Don't worry, it istn't a real tattoo, he just wanted to experience how it felt. But he's gonna come back soon to get his first real tattoo.

All in all it was a great evening, with great people and great food.
Here is something you can try making yourself, but I bet it will never taste as good as the ones we had.

It's tuna with avocado-peanutbutter.

Rainy Days

It's summertime over here, and we are sitting inside with the fireplace on full blast.

It's cold and rainy outside, wich means a really quiet day in the shop, half of the crew is still on vacation. So there is a really mellow, relaxed mood going on here. I love rainy days, so I don't mind the sun not being here today.

Hide Yo Kids

This was terrible!

Roger got attacked by a rabid pit bull with down syndrome today.
I managed to take a picture just as the beast went for his throat.

It was a terrible sight. It even looks as though Roger is laughing on the picture, but he was actually screaming! True story.

Here's a picture of the satisfied look on the monsters face after the whole incident occurred.

That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered pit bull you ever set eyes on!  That dog's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!
He's got huge, sharp... er... He can leap about...er.... Just look at it!

Surprise

Guess who it is!

That's right, your favourite not blogging blogger.
It has been quite busy in the new shop, so I really didn't have time to blog, it's not an attitude thing, don't worry.

Here you have a picture of the three angels working.

Actually, to tell you the truth, the bossman is on vacation, and since he left we haven´t been working at all, we just got a couple of friends to sit in the tattoo chairs and pose for this picture, so that he'll think we're doing our job and working our asses off.

Vikinger Fra Helvete

We had an awesome week here at the new shop. We could really get used to this whole new setting, I think.

Willem and I are sitting outside, next to a nice little fire we got started here, while I'm writing the blog, and winding down from a hectic but fun week.

Word of our new huble abode travels fast and far nowadays. Yesterday we got attacked and plundered by a pack of Evil, Wolf-Wrestling, Killer, Rapist, Vikings-From-Hell.

Really nice people!

I think they could have been part vampire aswell, because they couldn't stand the sun that good.

Here is a picture of when they caught Mehdi and started assaulting and man handling him. Poor guy, he didn't stand a chance against the Norwegian-bare-handed-bear-killers.

All kidding aside, they were really cool guys, and girl. Birdie came all the way from Norway to get the rest of his back started by Mehdi, He already had a piece by him that they started a couple of years ago in Copenhagen. Now he came back to get the rest of his back done.

We had a great time hanging out with these guys talking about wolf-wrestling-techniques, chewing 'cow dung' tobacco, and plundering villages in the old days.

That's a container of the cow dung tobacco, when you put it in your mouth for a while, it supposedly makes your breath smell like real viking breath and makes you irresistable to the viking women. Really potent stuff!

Mehdi got Birdie back pretty well for man-handling him earlier. With a 5 hour lining session on his sunburnt back.

All in all, take some awesome people, some awesome food, an awesome shop mix them all together and what you get is a pretty awesome time.

It's Bad... Really Bad

Mehdi blackmailed our friend Anco. We had his painting of Dikke Dennis, and Mehdi said he could come and pick it up any time he wants to, but only if he does so in a thong.

Well... Anco came to pick up his painting today.

The scary thing about it, was that it looked like he actually liked it.

E.T. Phone Home

A quick technical update.

Our phone is not working today, the phone company is busy switching the number to the new address.

If you want to make an appointment with Mehdi, best thing to do is drop by the shop, otherwise mail me at info@bunkertattoo.nl with all the dates you are available after July 20th. I'll make sure to get you a space as long as there's still space.

If you have any other questions, you are welcome to drop by the shop and I'll help you out.

The phone should be up and working sometime this week again.

Update:
This is only for the people who are already in the process of getting their pieces finished by Mehdi! So no new stuff!

Crystal Meth....Uhhhm... I Mean Ball

Here's a picture of a dragon Florencio started a while back. It took 3 light-years to complete.

I think I'll get some pictures of the new shop up sometime next week. We still have to unpack some stuff. When it's all done, I'll let you in on it.
If you can't wait, then drop by and say hi.

Veni Vidi Vasi

We came, we saw, we went on!

So, we just moved all our stuff to the new location. It's always a reality check when you realize you have like ten times more stuff than you thought you did.
It's not untill you actually start moving every thing that you realize how much crap actually fits into a small shop like this.

It is going to be a busy weekend trying to get as much stuff done as possible. I think we'll still need a week or two to get everything on the right place and start settling down.

Looking promising already, I would have liked to post a picture of how it's looking now, but the camera is in one of the boxes, and I'm not feeling like playing hide and go seek right now.

The shop will be open normal hours again as of Tuesday, and the new address is:

Bunker Tattoo
St. Annastraat 12a
Breda

Feel free to drop by if you're in the neighbourhood.

We Like To Move It, Move It

We just got back all the way from the Breda convention.
It was an exhausting long 10 minute trip all the way to the venue. But we survived.

Now getting ready to move everything over to the new shop some time  this week. In contrary to popular belief and rumors, we are not going to close the shop for 2 weeks nor are we going to re-build. Don't know who started that rumor, but I've heard it a couple of times the past weeks.

We are open all the way trough the move.

We also picked up a couple of copies of the new book 'Dutch Tattoo Studios', you can pick one up here if you are interested.

Dutch Tattoo Studios

Here's a little more information about the book I was talking about.

Tattoos are more popular than ever. Therefore many books about the art form and the associated cultures are published. While some focus on the artists, the tattooers from Holland have never been documented together in a bona fide book.
Dutch Tattoo Studios fills that void, by portraying 30 renowned artists and their work. Colorful characters from the older generation, such as Greg Orie, and the ones who followed in their footsteps, for instance Rob Admiraal.
They all share an unrelenting love for their craft, but each of them has
different preferences, in tattooing as well as in life.

The creator of Dutch Tattoo Studios is AndrĂ© van Zomeren. Since 1995 he’s been traveling the globe, from South America to Asia. With 12 years experience as a photographer and even more in getting tattooed, he was well-equipped to take on such a massive project. Dutch Tattoo Studios will be available in quality bookstores from 23-05-2011.

The book will be launched at the Breda Tattoo Convention, so make sure to drop by and get yourself a copy.
Or you can pre-order it online at Dutch Tattoo Studios.

We haven't seen the book yet but we are pretty excited and can't wait to see it.
