My day off work "Part 2"

We hanging out in Soho... Soaking in the vibe of the people...comparing the difference between ATL & NYC women... I know that's not good, but hey it's what men do...this guy walked over to our table who knew who we were and introduced himself to us....he said he was connected to Dame Dash's art gallery & creative studio "Creative Control" and is launching a dope fashion line of bow ties....he showed us one of his designs and I loved it...it's funny that he walked over because I told Corey he needed to check out the spot and try to get a video gigs over there...plus I want to show some of my paintings over at Dame's art gallery....we traded numbers and jumped back on the food & drinks











Once we got the bill.. I thought to myself.... Damn the cost of living in NYC is high.... I can see why they want to be so cheap with their tattoos...the prices are crazy

My day off work "Part 1"

I got off at Penn Station to meet up with Icky...Sophie told me about a spot up in Soho that had good food so I wanted to check it out....


I also had to hookup with Corey Davis.... He helped me film up in Queens for the doc movie i'm working on so I wanted to pay him...once I hooked up with Corey (and Aware) we walked over to Mid Town Comics... I love that store


























I picked up a few comic books for the night time reading... Then it was time to go to Soho... Get some food... And enjoy a few drinks with the boys

New York City....

I love NYC... A city full of different races and cultures... Art and fashion.... The poor and rich.... It's just an inspiring place to visit...I will be opening a City of Ink in New York... I think Brooklyn would be a perfect place.... My dreams have no limits and I do feel a COI in every major city will help create jobs for young artists all across the country...

Voices and Ideas...

I know you will never understand me....being an artist our minds work on different brain patterns...expression is everything to me...anything I hear and see inspire me in some way... It never turns off....voices and ideas are unlimited... When I hear your voice tell me negative things it inspire me... When I hear your voice tell me good things it inspire me... So how do you want to inspire? Or do you even care? I can't run away from the voices.. So I take it all in and put it all right back out...the good & bad...it's all put in my art... You don't have to like it.. I don't always like what you say but I have no choice but to hear it... Take it all in and create something beautiful to ease the stress...

Family Matters

So today I finally got a change to make some photos of the whole crew.
It didn't come easy though, I had to hunt most of them down and force them to go on film. Except for Willem who loves the camera, couldn't get him away from the lens.

So let me start with him.

Besides trying to dodge the camera all day there was also some drawing done.



Drawing happend on paper as well as on skin.


After the drawing some tattoos were done aswell, this time only on skin, as for that could not be done on paper.


Also a part of the Bunker family is Charly, he is an avid collector of Mehdi's tattoos. He has got almost his whole upper body covered already, so you will be seeing a lot more of him on this blog.

This Indonesian mask is on him aswell.



And finally, Mehdi started coloring this Maneki Neko today. Wich will bring the wearer good luck and fortune.

This is the legend of the Maneki Neko:

In the 17th century, there was a rundown and poverty-stricken temple in Tokyo. The temple's priest was very poor, but he shared what little food he had with his pet cat, Tama.

One day, a wealthy and important man was caught in a storm while hunting and he took refuge under a big tree near the temple. While he waited for the storm to pass, the man noticed a cat beckoning him to come inside the temple gate. This was so startling that he left the shelter of the tree to have a closer look at this unusual cat. At that moment, the tree was struck by lighting.

As a result, the wealthy man became friends with the poor priest, and the temple became prosperous. The priest and his cat never went hungry again.

When Tama died he was buried in the Goutokuji Temple's cat cemetery with respect and love, and the Maneki Neko was made in honor of him. A Maneki Neko in your home  is said to bring in good luck and visitors.

Maneki Neko is Japanese for "beckoning cat." The message he's holding says "Please come in. You are welcome!" and he is beckoning you with his paw . (In Japan, the gesture of beckoning is pretty much the reverse of the gesture used in the West.)
