Angels Will Rise And Koi's Will Swim

First off, I have a piece of Florencio, he has been working on for a while and finished today.



There were like a gazillion angels incorporated into it, but it turned out pretty cool, I liked the overal flow of the whole sleeve. To bad for you I did not get a picture of it haha.

Mehdi started a realy awesome project today, wich we all are pretty excited about.


As you can see in this here above photo, it’s going to be the front half of a traditional japanese body suit. The main themes will be koi's and a tibetan skull.



One of the biggest misconceptions about tattooers is that it is not about how good you can ride a Harley-Davidson. But actually believe it or not! It’s about how good you can draw.

It’s amazing how many stupid people there are out there thinking they can tattoo whilst they are not even capable of drawing a straight line on a piece of paper.



It takes years of drawing experience and dedication before you can even start thinking about becomming a serious tattoo artist. But enough already with the complaining.

In the meanwhile Mehdi finished lining the koi half of the design. He is still working on the other half of the drawing, so that will be done another day.

The coolest part about this all is actually that Dennis, the guy wearing it, is a cop! Got to love that! Makes me actually want to like the police.

Double The Action, Double The Pain.

Oh.. have I got something fun for you guys today.

Remember the dragon backpiece we started this blog off with, well Danny, the nice fella whos back it is, wanted it done as soon as possible so we went all out for him and doubled up on the action.



Florencio Rojas, our guest artist was all to happy to lend a helping hand in a time of need.


After a little bit of discussing of "who-is-going-to-do-what" they got started.



By the way, I am getting tattooed myself as I'm writing this, so don't expect it to be perfect. Willem is finishing up a piece on my calve, so maybe I'll post that soon.
But enough of that, let's get back to the post.

After a couple of hours Mehdi was left alone to finish up as Florencio had to finish up a piece of his own, wich I will include at the end of this post.


All off the shading and scales were done today. Not bad for about three hours of work.

After working on the backpiece with Mehdi, Florencio had some time to finish up this flower sleeve he was working on.

I myself am realy curious to how this one is going to look when it's done. Just love snake tattoos, can´t help it.



Next in line is a colorful flower sleeve Tony finished up, there is also a little cover-up in there somewhere.


And last but certainly not least, yet another backpiece Mehdi is working on. This time a Garuda. Still a lot of shading and color to come.


This one will probably not get finished until after the summer, but for you whom can not wait that long there will be one more shading session in about two weeks time.

The Struggles of Professional Black Tattoo Artists "The FILM"

Yall know I'm working a film project...its been an idea of mine for years now..but I wanted to partner up with a person with vision...I hooked up with film maker, Artemus Jenkins..we call him "AJ"...I met Artemus when he interviewed me for Vimby.com, and after I saw it I KNEW this brother had an eye for detail...these photos are stills from the film we are working on based on the pain, struggles, and lifestyles of black tattoo artists all across America...we were up in DC, and it was really emotional...I interviewed tattoo artists and asked them about their fears, personal relationships, and their family lives...I want the people to UNDERSTAND when you don't support "Professional" trained tattoo artists and go to the non-trained tattooist (scratchers) based off their cheap prices, you are doing more than hurting yourself but you slapping the artist who really deserves that business in the face..our mission with this film is to destory what the black community THINK is "tattooing" and rebuild this side of the industry by giving praises to the black artists who DID pay their dues to because "Tattoo Artists" I know Scratchers will HATE me after this film but I don't give a fuck, I don't believe in excuses..if you want to become a tattoo artist follow the same step these other black artists did.do your 2-3 year training and make a name for yourself outside the hood..many artist did it and so can YOU...after this film a lot of scracthers will no longer be getting business from people who didn't know any better...its time to break all stereotypes of tattooing in the black community...its time to LEARN the history of the black tattoo scene and give props to the artists who opened the doors for us all...I hope to also get the help and vision of tattoo artist, Corey Davis...he is now directing music videos, and creating his own film projects...I have yet to title this film...but when its released, this will change A LOT of things in tattooing.
